Outreach, Screening, & Referral

About the Program

As the designated Outreach, Screening, and Referral (OSAR) program for 12 counties across North Texas, we offer a range of free resources for individuals affected by substance use. Our team works closely with individuals, their families, and their support networks to determine the type of care needed and help them navigate treatment options.

Our OSAR program serves as a comprehensive starting point for anyone in need. For uninsured or underinsured individuals, the OSAR team can determine if you are approved for full or partial financial assistance towards your referred treatment services. We offer services in the following counties: Cooke, Denton, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise.

How can OSAR help?

  • Information about available treatment and recovery services
  • Confidential alcohol and drug screenings
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Education and support
  • Referrals for state-funded inpatient and outpatient treatment
  • Financial evaluation to determine eligibility for state-funded programs

What to Expect

  • Screenings: Our licensed staff conduct screenings for individuals seeking substance use services and support. The OSAR Team performs in-person screenings to assess the severity of use and its impact on daily functioning in order to make appropriate referrals.
  • Brief Motivational Counseling: Following the screening, individuals can have up to 6 brief motivational interviewing sessions with their OSAR counselor.
  • Follow-ups: OSAR counselors provide additional support until the individual successfully enters their referred treatment service and serve as a point of contact for future recovery support needs.
  • Referrals: Once an individual’s treatment/recovery needs are identified, referred services may include supportive or intensive outpatient, residential treatment, detox, medication-assisted treatment, or recovery support services.
